If your SEPA or SEPA Instant transfer was declined, there are several possible reasons. In most cases, the issue can be resolved by checking your wallet limits, verifying transfer details, or trying a different transfer method. In some situations, the receiving bank may temporarily block incoming SEPA payments, which will also cause the transfer to fail. Below are the most common reasons and what you can do in each case.
Check your wallet limits
Please check if the current limits of your wallet have not been exceeded. To do this, visit your wallet settings and open the Limits section.
Additionally, keep in mind the rule for a single SEPA transfer: the maximum amount per transfer is half of your wallet’s overall outgoing transfer limit. For example, if your total outgoing limit is 10,000 EUR, the maximum amount you can send in one SEPA transfer is 5,000 EUR.
Verify the transfer details
Make sure that all information is entered correctly, including:
- IBAN
- BIC code
- Country
Even a small error can cause the transfer to be declined.
SEPA Instant transfers
If your SEPA Instant transfer is being declined, please try resubmitting it as a regular SEPA transfer. Some banks do not support Instant payments, may have temporary restrictions, or have lower limits for Instant transactions.
Transfers to the beneficiary’s bank (BIC) are disabled
If you see the message “Transfers to this beneficiary’s bank (BIC) are disabled,” it means the receiving bank is temporarily not accepting incoming SEPA transfers. When this happens, any SEPA payment you attempt to send to that bank will be declined automatically, and no funds will leave your Genome account.
In some cases, transfers in both directions (sending or receiving) may be affected if an external intermediary experiences disruptions.
*Please note that transfers to BIC CLJUGB21 are currently not being processed.
What you can do
While transfers are disabled, you can:
- Ask the recipient to provide an alternative bank account, if available
- Use an alternative payment method if you need to complete the transfer urgently
