How long does it take for the SWIFT transfer to be processed?

The standard time for a beneficiary to receive a SWIFT payment is 1 to 4 business days. Please keep in mind that it can take longer for the transfer to reach the beneficiary during the weekend and bank holidays. 

Note that when you make an international transfer, an Intelligent Routing System can route your transfer via another payment system, such as CHAPS, Faster Payments, or TARGET2, to make the payment more efficient.

• Faster Payments are transfers within the UK that are executed in British pounds. These are usually completed instantly or within 2 hours maximum.
• CHAPS is used for high-value business transactions within the UK. Such transfers are executed in British pounds and are completed within 1 business day.
• TARGET2 (T2) is used for large-value payments in the eurozone. Such transfers are executed within 1 business day.
